Course Description

THIS IS A FACE-TO-FACE COURSE OFFERING

Responding to requests from local business for ‘practical, relevant, and customized training’, we are pleased to launch Leadership by Design. In this apprenticeship style leadership program, you will be challenged to apply your learning within your own organization and report back to your leadership cohort for feedback. In fact, as you complete your leadership challenges, you’ll have an opportunity to add digital badges to your leadership portfolio. Whether you’re an emerging leader or a manager with loads of experience, you’ll be challenged to adopt a growth mindset as you develop and hone seven core Leadership Competencies. Perhaps, most importantly, you’ll be joining a diverse local community of leaders for ongoing collaboration, problem-solving and networking.

This exciting program second with the first of three courses: Lead with Innovation 

Do you have ‘innovation envy’? Are you wondering how to create a culture that nurtures creative thinking and risk-taking to meet organizational goals? Following the example of world leaders in social and business innovation, we believe ‘design thinking’ has the potential to spark creativity and to help organizations get unstuck as they reframe problems as design challenges. In this highly participative seven-week course, you will have the opportunity to practice ‘design thinking’ as you solve a team design challenge. You will then apply your skills to reframe one of your own organization’s problems as a design challenge and work through the process to an innovative solution.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of Lead with Innovation, you will:
  • be able to nuture a culture of creative thinking in your organization
  • know and execute the principles of 'design thinking"
  • be an asset to your organization and co-workers
  • obtain a Certificate of Participation
