Course Description
The Chainsaw “trade” is extremely mobile and allows trained individuals to earn income in many types of positions and locations. This three day course gives participants more employment opportunities than other chainsaw training courses. With ENFORM chainsaw safety training, participants will become confident in the use of chainsaws and receive proper certification improving employment opportunities in the Forestry and Oil & Gas industries.

This is the first level required in the steps to become a certified faller and will qualify you to work as a bucker (maximum six inches in diameter at breast height (DBH) trees,) which includes the cutting of a fallen tree into specific lengths. Other potential employers include town and city maintenance shops, golf courses and ski hills

Upon successful completion of ENFORM Chainsaw Basics, you will:
  • be able to discuss the theory, maintenance and practical use of chainsaws.
  • know the basics of chainsaw handling and operations.
  • understanding of personal and work site safety.
  • be able to identify and assess hazards.
  • be able to perform chainsaw inspection and maintenance
  • know how confidently handle a chainsaw and its operations.
  • be able to execute safe limbing and bucking practices
  • obtain a Chainsaw Competency Record Logbook and a wallet certificate that is valid for three years.
No prerequisites required.


Course materials are included.

Participants are required to supply their own Personal Protection Equipment (PPE):
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Steel toed boots
