From this process candidates are selected into the EMT program.  Prerequisites: Proof 18 years of age or older (by course start date) Current CPR for health care providers or basic life support (Heart & Stroke recommended) Dates: Registration for EMT Assessment opens 4-5 months prior to program start date and prerequisites are required at this time.   All course fees and material fees are non-refundable.

Lethbridge College Home » Emergency Medical Services » EMS Program Courses » EMT Program Lethbridge College is proud to partner with Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and Southern Alberta EMS departments to provide this exciting program. The Emergency Medical Technician program is a certificate program accredited by the Canadian Medical Association in which all provincial and national competencies are taught based on the National Occupational Competency Profile. The competencies are taught through lecture, self-study and extensive labs and practicums. Students learn to assess and treat patients in medical and trauma emergencies with 392 hours on campus followed by 40 hours hospital practicum and a minimum of 200 hours ambulance practicum. Intakes: January/September EMT Assessment:  Selection for the EMT program is based on the results of an online interview process.  Registration for EMT Assessment opens 5 months prior to program start date and prerequisites are required at this time. Once all prerequisites have been satisfied the student will be able to register. NOTE: International Students are not eleigible to apply for the EMT Program. Course Details Tuition:  $8,645.00 SUBJECT TO CHANGE plus student fees ($250.00 + GST) non-refundable Program Length: 392 hours theory; hospital and ambulance practicum to follow Pre-requisites: Participants must be 18 years or older (at course start date)   Successful completion of EMR or NAIT or Lethbridge College's MFR   Current CPR for health care providers or basic life support (Heart & Stoke certification recommended)   EMT Assement completion - online interview as part of selection process Additional supplies and fees:  Cost of textbooks, material fees, iPad, uniforms and boots are not included in the tuition or student fees. Selection for the program is based on the results of the EMT student assessment (mandatory prerequisite). All fees and material fees are non-refundable for this course. After successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to write the Alberta College of Paramedics www.collegeofparamedics.org provincial certification exam. Your ACP license is required for employment in Alberta.

NOTICE: Emergency Medical Responder will be discontinued as of July 2017. Lethbridge College in partnership with NAIT will be providing the Medical First Responder (MFR) course effective September 2017. The Medical First Responder will provide students with the essential skills to provide first-on-scene basic emergency care prior to Emergency Medical Services arriving. This program may be right for you if you are interested in a career related to fire rescue, police, safety and security enforcement services and any other professions or volunteer organizations that require MFR expertise. Students who successfully complete the course will obtain the following certifications: International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Basic Provider, Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider CPR, and Medical First Responder (MFR). This program is provided in partnership with NAIT and is approved at an Advanced First Aid level by Alberta Occupational Health and Safety. Textbooks: Students must purchase texbooks prior to first class - cost is not incuded in the tuition fee. All course fees and material fees are non-refundable.
