Course Description A one day preparation for the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam (CPNRE). The workshop will include: Navigation of the "Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination Prep Guide, Fifth Edition" A simulated computer exam (Classroom Assessment from Yardstick Assessment Strategies) similar to the CPNRE which is available only to educational institutions; to help students gauge their readiness to write the CPNRE A facilitated review of the results of the computer exam for the three competency categories, Professional, Ethical and Legal Practice, Foundations of Practice, and Collaborative Practice, with an Academic Strategist and Practical Nursing faculty member. Strategies for answering questions from the three levels of cognitive domains (knowledge/comprehension, application and critical thinking) Multiple choice test taking strategies for a computer based examThe focus of the course will be on test writing strategies and using the Prep Guide as an effective tool. Nursing content may be reviewed as it arises in questions, but will not be the emphasis of the course. This course is ideal for: Recent graduates of a Practical Nursing Program who are at the early stages of preparing to write the computer based CPNRE.  Individuals who have not reviewed the Prep Guide extensively.          Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course you will: Identify areas where studying should be more focused to achieve success on the CPNRE Predict your likelihood of passing the CPNRE Experience a computer based exam similar to the CPNRE Improve key test taking strategies in taking a computer based multiple choice exam Prerequisites Purchase the CPNRE Prep Guide through Yardstick Assessment Strategies ( We will be using one of the ten Practice Tests included in your CPNRE Prep Guide during this course. You will need a laptop for the course to access your CPNRE Prep Guide and one of the Practice Tests. Notes Please register early as seating is limited. You may be able to attend another scheduled session or if you need to cancel completely, be sure to do so four business days prior to the course start date to qualify for a full refund.
