Course Description:
Bookkeeping Skills is a thorough overview of basic bookkeeping emphasizing generally accepted accounting (GAAP) principles in completing procedures and statements required for the standard accounting cycle.
 
Bookkeepers play an essential and crucial role in keeping small businesses running and profitable. Whether you own your own business or want to be highly employable, having the skills to understand how businesses handle money and make profits will always serve you well. Bookkeeping skills are incredibly valuable and transferable to many different disciplines and work environments including working from the comfort of your home. This course will introduce you to the world of Bookkeeping including journals, ledgers, bank reconciliation, petty cash, GST and other related transactions.
 

Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of Bookkeeping Skills, you will:
  • have a good understanding of GAAP principles.
  • understand basic bookkeeping.

  • understand the flow of money through your business.
  • obtain a Recognition of Achievement certificate.

This course has no prerequisites.

Participants are required to buy the corresponding textbook "College Accounting: A Practical Approach (Cdn Ed)" by Slater & Zwicker and is available at the Lethbridge College Bookstore.
