BLS Provider

Course Description
The Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course teaches learners to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED. It includes adult, child, and infant rescue techniques. The BLS provider course includes realistic scenarios, simulations and state-of-the-art animations, and incorporates Heart & Stroke’s proven practice-while-watching video format to bring the science of the 2015 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC to the front-line practitioner.

The BLS course focuses on teaching the essential skills rescuers need to know to perform high-quality CPR in a wide variety of settings.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Basic Life Support Provider Course, you will:
  • realize how high-quality CPR increases survival rate.
  • be able to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants.
  • know how to use an AED on adults, children, and infants.
  • recall the proper measures to take in a wide array of emergency situations.
  • receive a 1-year certification in Basic Life Support.

This course has no prerequisites.

All of our first aid classes use the curriculum offered by The Heart and Stroke Foundation. All programs meet the federal, provincial and territorial requirements for the workplace. These include the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations, HRSDC (Human Resources Canada), Canadian Labor Code and COHS (Canadian Occupational Health & Safety).
