CourseGraphic Course Description
Food Safety in Aquaponics provides a basic understanding of how the systems components (water, plant bed, fish tank, waste handling, etc.) and different stages of your aquaponics operation (seeding, germination, transplanting, production, packaging and transport) must be scrutinized to protect your plant and fish products so that they don't become compromised.

The background, fundamentals, techniques, and equipment covered in this course will help you to identify the possible risk areas in your operation (e.g. products used, supplies storage, the process of harvest, etc.) and help you navigate the many areas in your operation that you need to stay diligent with in order to secure the integrity of your fish and plant products. It is hoped that after this module your mindset will be changed and open to how you can better address and intervene in food safety risks in your aquaponics operation. At the end of the module, you'll write a quiz to assess your comprehension of the content.
