Character Design and Animation
Series includes the following courses:
3D Sculpting Fundamentals
Interested in 3D sculpting but don’t know where to begin? The
3D Sculpting Fundamentals
course is for you! Learn how to interpret and obtain concept art, explore the more commonly-used sculpting tools, and find out how to work with resolution. By the end of this course, you’ll have a grasp on how to take on any 3D sculpting software to begin creating appealing and eye-catching stylized art.
3D Character Body Sculpting (Stylized)
Often, you don’t sit down and begin working on a 3D character without a plan. This course will focus on creating and executing a plan to begin sculpting a character in 3D. In it, you will find concept art to work from, learn how to block in a stylized body, combine the mesh, and sculpt in forms and anatomy, all while applying principles learned in the
3D Sculpting Fundamentals
course.
3D Character Retopology
So, you’ve got a character and want to put it in your game. Before you do that, there’s an important step all character artists take between sculpting and rigging. That is retopology. In the
3D Character Retopology
course, you’ll take a character body mesh - perhaps, the one you created in the
3D Character Body Sculpting (Stylized)
course - and apply retopology methods to it. First, however, you’ll learn what retopology is. Then you’ll apply those practices to your mesh to allow your character to be rigged with ease. It’s a crucial part of the 3D pipeline, and one of the more technical components of creating a character.
Bipedal Character Rigging
This course will cover basic character rigging in Blender or Maya. We will be rigging a humanoid character with a full body rig. And discuss the benefits and detractors of using auto riggers like Mixamo vs hand rigging.
